We're done PREPARING everything in the basement project, and now we get to put in the goodies -- and we've got some great finishing materials.
We have a linoleum floor that comes in planks, that taps together, and that "floats" like so many DIY floors nowadays. But that top layer is true linoleum, in great colors, that we mixed and matched to create some fun patterns.

In the workshop we used ready-to-assemble cabinets and a laminate countertop that we glued up and installed ourselves. The cabinets screw together but they're solid enough for garages and workshops.
But for REAL security, we've got a 560 pound gun safe, and a couple of piano movers to bring it around the side of the house, and down a flight of stairs. (These guys are pros. They kept talking about how it was a "light" job.)
To wrap up the wine cellar, we install our cooler unit. We had left an opening high in the wall between the wine cellar and the exercise area and the unit slips right in. Unlike, say, a room air conditioner, it's designed to provide just a small amount of cooling power over a long period of time. It's also designed to be quiet -- a good feature since it vents into the finished workout area.
And to dress up the cellar, we install a flexible track lighting system. We're able to curve it to perfectly follow the walls of our oddly shaped room.
