The hallway that runs all the way across the front of the house ends at the laundry
area.
There
are french doors to close the hallway off from the laundry area. But even when
this area is closed off the french doors and full length window give us great
light and views.
Inside the french doors is a fold-out ironing board center. It originally came
with a maple door on it, but we replaced that with a cherry door that matches
the rest of the cabinetry.
Our laundry
area is really quite small so we went with a European washer and dryer. They're
small compared to what we're used to, but they're made to do big loads.
The
washer loads from the front, and the drum turns horizontally, which they say is
the most efficient way to wash. Since both the washer and drier are front loading,
we were able to make better use of the countertop space.
