Updating a Ranch Kitchen

In this three-part mini-series, Dean and Robin begin remodeling the kitchen of a ranch-style home built in the 1950s. They tear out old cabinets, patch holes in the plaster, install new cabinets, and replace some baseboard heat with toe-kick space heaters. They also show how to install a laminate countertop, cut the sink opening, and hook up the garbage disposer.

They wrap up the remodeling by finishing the media-center cabinets, installing a downdraft vent, retrofitting new recessed lighting, installing an MDF pocket door and hanging blinds.
